Effective date: September 21, 2026 App: Pause for Scripture: Bible Operator: Burrito Studio Privacy contact: support@burritostudio.net
Burrito Studio ("we," "us," or "our") operates Pause for Scripture: Bible and its public content service (together, the "Service"). This policy explains how information is handled when you use the Service.
The short version
The Service is designed so that your Scripture habit, reflections, Screen Time choices, bypass state, and saved items stay on your device unless a feature clearly tells you that it is using your account or a cloud service. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Premium purchase status is processed through Apple and RevenueCat. We use public content, cloud audio, account, analytics, and crash-reporting services as described below.
Information kept on your device
The following information is stored locally on your device. It is not sent to our public content API:
- app preferences, including your selected Bible translation, accessibility preferences, and onboarding state;
- saved Scripture references and saved Today’s Moments;
- local daily-session cache and completion state;
- any reflection you enter while it is displayed in the app; it is handled only on your device and is not sent to us;
- Screen Time authorization state, local blocking state, bypass timing, and emergency/fail-open state; and
- opaque Family Controls selection tokens used by iOS to apply a shield.
Family Controls does not give us a readable list of the apps you choose. The opaque selection tokens are kept locally in the app’s App Group so the app and its Screen Time extensions can coordinate the selected shield. We do not transmit those tokens, application names, categories, or your bypass state to our servers.
Persisted local information remains on your device until you remove it in the app where that option exists, reset the applicable system/app setting, or delete the app. Deleting the app normally removes its local data, subject to any device backup you have independently enabled with Apple. If you use an account-based feature, information associated with that feature may also be retained by the applicable account service as described below.
Information processed to provide the Service
Public daily-session content
When the app requests a daily session, it sends the local Scripture-day date needed to select the correct public content. The request necessarily travels through internet infrastructure and may include normal connection information, such as an IP address and device/browser request headers, processed by the hosting provider to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service. The public content API is not designed to receive accounts, reflection text, Screen Time selections, bypass information, or share-card payloads.
Production content requests use HTTPS. A local HTTP address used during internal development is not part of the released Service.
Cloud audio
When you choose an audio feature that uses cloud text-to-speech, the app sends only our application-controlled Scripture or editorial text and your selected voice or playback preference to generate that audio. The TTS request does not include your private reflections, account information, Screen Time selections, selected/blocked apps, bypass state, device identifier, or other user-generated content. We use cloud text-to-speech only to return the requested audio; we do not use it for analytics, advertising, profiling, or tracking.
Accounts
The Service may offer account-based features. When you create, sign in to, or use an account, we and our account-service provider process the information needed to authenticate and manage the account, such as an account identifier, the sign-in information or identity-provider identifier you provide, and account security and service records. The exact sign-in method and fields are shown in the account flow. We use this information to operate, secure, and support account-based features, not to serve targeted advertising.
Unless a feature expressly says that it syncs information to your account, reflections, Screen Time selections, selected apps, blocking state, bypass state, and saved Scripture remain local to your device.
Analytics and crash reporting
We use analytics and crash-reporting services to understand how the Service performs and is used, diagnose errors, improve reliability, and protect the Service. These services may process app interactions, feature usage, device and app information, identifiers, IP address or approximate location derived from IP address, and crash or performance diagnostics. We do not use analytics or crash-reporting data to infer the spiritual content of your reflections or to create profiles from your Screen Time selections, selected apps, blocking state, or bypass state.
Purchases and Premium access
Purchases are made through Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple processes your payment method and Apple Account information; we do not receive your payment-card number.
If Premium purchase or restore is enabled, we use RevenueCat to obtain and maintain Premium entitlement status. RevenueCat may process an anonymous app-user identifier, purchase/product identifiers, subscription status, transaction-related information, and technical connection/device information needed to provide subscription management and fraud/security operations. We use that information only to determine whether Premium access is active and to support purchase restoration. RevenueCat acts as a service provider for us; its handling is also subject to the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Sharing
The app uses the iOS share sheet only after you choose to share. The app’s share payload contains either Scripture with its reference and translation, or a clearly labeled Today’s Moment. It does not include your private reflection, selected/blocked apps, Screen Time status, bypass information, or account data.
After you send a share card or text to another app or service, that recipient and service control their own handling of it under their own terms and privacy policies.
What we do not do
We do not:
- sell or rent personal information;
- use third-party advertising SDKs or targeted advertising;
- create a profile from your Scripture reading, reflection, or Screen Time selections;
- transmit your reflection, saved Scripture, selected apps, blocking status, or bypass state to the public content API; or
- use the Service to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Apple may independently collect diagnostic or usage information if you have opted into Apple’s analytics programs. That processing is governed by Apple’s policies, not ours.
Service providers and future changes
We use service providers to operate the Service, including Apple for in-app purchases, RevenueCat for subscription-entitlement management, and providers for public content delivery, cloud audio, account services, analytics, and crash reporting. We require providers to handle information only as needed to provide their services to us, subject to their terms and privacy policies.
Cloud text-to-speech processes only application-controlled text in real time to fulfill the audio request and is not used to collect user data. Before release, we will complete the final provider, data-category, retention/deletion, and App Store privacy audit for account, analytics, and crash-reporting services. If a later feature changes how information is handled, we will update this policy and those disclosures before releasing the feature.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the Service. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children and minors
We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through an account, support channel, or otherwise, contact us at support@burritostudio.net so we can review the request.
Your privacy choices and rights
You can decline Screen Time authorization, turn off blocking, choose not to purchase Premium, avoid sharing, and choose not to use account-based features. Where applicable law gives you rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability for information we control, contact support@burritostudio.net. Because most devotional and Screen Time information stays locally on your device, we may not be able to identify or retrieve that local app data for you. Requests concerning App Store payments may need to be made to Apple; requests concerning RevenueCat-held entitlement data may require us to coordinate with RevenueCat.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Service or applicable law changes. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, where required, provide additional notice.
